Develop an everyday mental health Resource for Teachers
Everyday Mental Health Practices to Promote Resiliency in Students
School Mental Health ASSIST and the Elementary Teachers’ Federation of Ontario have formed a partnership to develop an everyday mental health resource for educators. Educators have a very important role to play in supporting positive mental health and well-being at school. This resource is designed to support elementary educators with this role by offering a repository of high-quality everyday mental health practices that can be easily incorporated into classroom instruction. We are inviting ETFO members to pilot and evaluate the everyday mental health practices.
Project Overview and Timelines
Goal: Field-test an evidence-informed, collaboratively-developed, resource with elementary educators in Ontario school boards.
Timeline: End of February-End of May, 2018
Try out the everyday mental health practices, completing a minimum of 2 practices per category (total of 12 practices) within a 3 month time period (End of February-End of May).
Complete an online self-report survey before the start of the implementation of the everyday mental health practices (February or March) and once again, three months later (End of May).
Consider participating in an optional end of project focus group by webinar to share your impressions of the practices (End of May).
