 Health & Safety (Violent Incident Reporting) PA Day Training for Elementary Occasional Teachers

A half-day of professional development focusing on Health & Safety training is being provided on Feb. 16 and Apr. 27  (half day – am or pm session). This training is offered as a result of Memorandum of Agreement #3 of the 2014-2017 central collective agreement  and will include training on Violent Incident Reporting.

HDSB Elementary schools will reserve up to 10 spots for Elementary Occasional Teachers at each site to attend this training.

In order to organize this centrally, we have created a sign up process through PD Place that will allow Elementary Occasional Teachers to sign up for one of the sessions that are being offered. Elementary Occasional Teachers that attend this training will be paid a 1/2 day’s pay.  Please note, if you are a retiree and you have already reached your 50-day supply limit for this school year, you can still attend the training. If you do not wish to receive payment for the 1/2 day session in order to avoid negatively impacting your pension, please contact Tim Hall, Manager of Human Resources.

Once you have registered on PD Place ( ) for one of the sessions, please check your email for details around parking at the school or other relevant information that may be sent out.

On the day of the session there will be an attendance sign-in sheet at each school and you will be required to sign that attendance sheet.

After you have left the training session you are also urged to complete all mandatory training identified at the beginning of this school year during the remainder of the day.

This training can be accessed through this link using any computer via the Internet. Once you have logged into ESS please select the “Training” tab on the left side of the screen.

Occasional Teachers who do not complete an LTO during the school year will be compensated a half-day’s pay at the end of the school year for this training.
