Join us for a 2-part learning opportunity on Race and Racism. In our sessions you will have the opportunity to develop your capacity to be an Anti-Racist educator and discuss strategies to increase your confidence in taking action to address racism in our educational settings. They will be interactive sessions that will provide you with opportunities for self-reflection as you strengthen your analysis of systemic racism. “To be anti-racist is a radical choice in the face of history, requiring a radical reorientation of our consciousness.” ~ Ibram Kendi
These 2 sessions will be facilitated by Karamjit Sangha-Bosland & Eric Keunne
These sessions will run a bit differently than in the past.
We will use the book “Stamped, Racism, Anti-Racism and You” by Jason Reynolds and Ibram X Kendi, as the vehicle to open and guide our discussions.
If you register for this 2- part series, you are committing to being present on both dates: January 27th and Feb 9th. Our sessions will be held from 5:00-6:30 pm via Zoom and there will be the expectation that you have read the required sections of the book in order to fully participate.
There will also be a small fee of $10 which will be used to offset part of the cost of the book.
Upon successful registration, you can pick up your book at the HEOT office at 3390 South Service Road, Suite 103 in Burlington between January 4th – 8th during the hours of 9:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m. Please bring the exact amount of cash only.
Please note that when you register for this event, the confirmation email you receive will come from our President, Al Bero, because he owns the Zoom account, but please continue to email me about the meeting if anything comes up.
If you are not able to attend, I will require a minimum of 5 days notice in order to notify someone on the waiting list and you will need to return the book. You will be refunded your $10. Failure to provide that notice will result in not being able to attend future PL events.
This workshop is open to Elementary OTs and LTOs only.
Registration opens on December 11th, 2020 at 8:00 pm. Please click on the link below to register. This workshop will not be recorded.
