SC-04 -From Classroom Management To Classroom Community
Course Leader: Michael Beetham

Imagine a classroom where behavioural issues are minimized and student growth
opportunities are maximized. Students and teachers experience academic growth
and emotional/physical well-being in a nurturing learning environment. The teacher
is able to spend more time teaching and connecting with students. You are invited
to join us on this engaging, three-day comprehensive course that looks at
contributing factors and strategies/tools to creating optimal working environments
that facilitate work/life balance for students and adults. Together, we will expand
our current expertise in managing high-risk students, classroom routines and
procedures that prevent classroom management problems and bullying.
Participants will investigate ways of finding how your students are smart, explore
differentiated instruction and assessment strategies, cooperative learning and
adventure based initiatives. Time will be spent on personal reflection and goal
setting toward well-being both at home and work. This course will benefit teachers
with all levels of experience. You will leave this course with a variety of strategies
that will further assist you in creating a healthy community of learners.
